The Series

Voices, not faces.

The series is a video project. Not a channel about parenting tips — a library of episodes where our kids retell what they learned from books we read together, in their own voices, on their own terms.

You won't see their faces. You'll hear their voices.

Why no faces.

We made the choice for two reasons.

Privacy. Our kids deserve to be kids, not characters. By the time they're old enough to decide whether they want to be public, the choice will be theirs to make — not made for them.

The ideas, not the personalities. A kid's face on camera makes the video about the kid. A kid's voice over their own drawings, or simple animations, makes it about what they figured out. We want the figuring-out to be the star.

What an episode looks like.

About six to ten minutes, depending on the book. Three movements:

  1. The setup. What book we read. What part of it. Why we picked it.
  2. The retell. The kid, in their own voice, telling you what they took from it. Sometimes plainly. Sometimes through a story they invented. Sometimes a list of things they noticed.
  3. The practice. One small thing the family is going to try this week because of what we read.

That's the format. Nothing fancier.

Coming soon.

We're recording the first episodes now. If you'd like to know when the first one goes live, leave us your email on the notify page. We won't email you about anything else until there's a real episode to share.
