Frequently asked
Questions, answered honestly.
Who are you?
We're the Tye family — Paul and Anna, plus our two kids. We started this as a way to take the books on our shelf — the ones about effort and habits and how kids actually learn — and turn them into a practice the whole family could share.
Why don't you show your kids' faces?
Two reasons. Privacy — they deserve to be kids, not characters, and the decision to be public should be theirs to make when they're old enough. And we want the ideas to be the focus, not the personalities. More about the format.
How is this different from Big Life Journal or other growth-mindset products?
We love Big Life Journal — we use it ourselves. The difference: we aren't making worksheets or kits. We're making short audio-and-illustration episodes where our kids retell what they learned from books, in their own voices. Less curriculum, more campfire.
When will the first episode come out?
We don't have a hard date yet. We're recording the first batch now. If you'd like to know when one is ready, leave us your email on the notify page.
How do you pick which books to cover?
We read them ourselves first. We pick the ones we keep coming back to — the ones with an idea simple enough for a kid to hold onto, but deep enough that we're still finding new things in it years later. Here's our starter shelf.
What ages is this for?
Roughly six to fourteen. Younger kids will get more out of it with a parent listening along. Older kids will go deeper on the same ideas. We aren't a "designed for second graders" kind of project.
Can I suggest a book?
Please do. The notify list is the best way to be in touch right now — when we have a proper email channel, that'll be the place.
Will there be a store?
Eventually. Our own kids' books based on growth-mindset themes, a T-shirt with the small-steps mark, posters of the reframes that work for our family. More about what's planned.
Are you on YouTube or Instagram?
Not yet, but soon. Once we publish the first episode, the YouTube channel becomes its home. Instagram is for the small reminders and quotes we use ourselves. Links will appear in the footer when they're live.
